New York

So a couple weeks ago I went up to Chuang Yen Monastery for Buddhist Camp. I thought, "Cool, camp and I'll learn a little bit a bout Buddhism too! Sounds great!" So My mom, dad, brother, boyfriend and I all headed up to Carmel New York.

The monastery was beautiful and simply done, with lots of natural wood on some gorgeous land. I didn't take too many photos, but here are a few.

Prizes for the kids!

No idea what they are doing, but it looks like they are having fun!

Tye-dyed T-shirts for the first time in a long time! I love it!

Camp Counselor looking pretty in pink! (I forgot her name or never knew it... lol)

Crystal chillin outside the dining hall
It was so much fun and I learned a lot about Buddhism and made lots of friends. It led me to wonder whether the people there were nicer and kindlier than most, or whether it was business as usual! But seriously, everyone was great!

Then in a sudden change, I went to NYC for an illustration conference. I shot two rolls of film but loaded the second (more exciting) one wrong, so nothing was ever shot. =( Oh well, that'll teach me to be more careful next time!

At Wo Hop's, a place from Arielle's childhood memories =)

The living room in Brooklyn, around sunset

Ramona!

Unfortunately all the fun and awesome photos I took in Chinatown never made it to film. =( I was very sad about that, but what can you do?

Now I'm home and working on a few projects, tryin to keep myself busy!

1st roll of film ever!

I started taking some photos just for fun with my boyfriend's 35mm that he just bought. Good thing for me he wasn't using it as often as he liked ;) Turns out that my dad never threw his away either, but I think I'm going to keep using Tam's for now since it has the suggestions for what shutter speed to use. Then once I get a grasp I'll switch to my dad's, which I suspect is even nicer than Tam's.

I really don't know if I'm awful or not, and I have no experience with editing photos in photoshop, but here goes:

Pretty standard fare as far as beginner photography goes! 'Here is my boyfriend... And here's my cat..."

Up Next: macro flowers! Just kidding :P

Career Fair!

So in preparation for the Career Fair I wanted to upload some images to showcase some portfolio pieces

This is a print that I made last Spring Intro to Printmaking in Lacoste- one the coolest classes I've taken at SCAD...

And these are two pieces that I made for Travel Portfolio, a class of field trips across the countryside of Southern France. Let me introduce you to Arielle, Chris and Caitie...

Projects that require you to draw dinosaurs are the best! I also discovered the some form or magnolia tree has been in existence since the Jurassic period...

Last quarter I illustrated one of my favorite books, The House on Mango Street by Sandra Cisneros...

And these are some fresh pieces, exploring some Art Nouveau and darker elements...

That's all for now! I'll update much more consistently in the future-
Upcoming... poster for HAIR the musical!

Electronic

First experiment in digital painting. We had to make ourself another character/person. I gave myself a guitar and long hair. Since I do not play the guitar or have long hair. The only camera I had on hand was the photobooth camera and I didn't realize that it would give a mirror image and not a normal image. Which is why I look like a left-handed guitarist in this.

random

My band is doing a cover of say it aint so, and I found this video which I thought contained my friend Chase for a second, which made it really funny. Otherwise it's jus some kid who is learning guitar and has a decent voice and people are hating on him hardcore for some reason.

Feel-good vid of Metric and Broken Social Scene playing Gimme Sympathy together

bookmark of an awesome Say it Aint So cover

I can't find the damn cover of this one chick that I want to, though! Driving me nuts!
